He was predeceased by: his mother Helen MacLean; his sister Cathy; his grandson Dono; and his brothers-in-law, Drummond Lister, Ed Iwasiw and Charlie Bick.

He is survived by: his wife Catherine; his children, Kevin (Sheila) and Lisa (Rob Rennie); his grandchildren, Jake, Tara (Sam), Julia, Luey, Conor, Declan, Ashlyn (Nate), Nicole, Jamieson, Kendall, Rachel, Connor and Ava; his great grandchild Elena; his brother-in-law Don Bick (Wanda); and his sisters, Peggy Lister and Jessie Iwasiw.
