He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy and Alice; and his wife Patricia Anne (Vanstone). He is survived by: his children, Fay (Walter) and Stephen; his grandchildren, Eric (Liz), Frank (Cristine), Alice, Andrew, James (Samantha) and Thomas; his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Roy, Alan and Julia; and his sister Donna Ellins.
