He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Cunningham and Lillie Cunningham; his brothers, Julian Cunningham and Alan Cunningham; his father-in-law Michael Rowett; and his siblings-in-law, Bronya Cunningham and Elaine Cunningham.

He is survived by: his significant other Claire Rowett; his children, Eric Cunningham (Alice Pelot), Katherine Rowett (Blaine Bridgeman), Michelle Rowett (Ben Rolley), Hayden Rowett (Bailey Dulmage) and Pam Waters-Anton (Andrew); his siblings, Paul Cunningham (Judy), Mary Haxton (late Gordon), John Cunningham, William Cunningham (Margaret), Malcolm Cunningham (Sandra Crocker) and Jane Cunningham (Ian MacWilliam); and his former wife Roseanne Vanhoof.
