He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Patterson; his parents, Irwin Patterson and Mildred Patterson; and his brothers, Roy, Johnston (Jack), Harold and William.
He is survived by: his children, Wade (Rachel Bowie) and Wendy Patterson (Robert McLaughlin); his grandchildren, Josh, Joel Patterson, Lucas, Aaron Simon and Robin McLaughlin; his great grandchildren, Cattibrie, Mckoel, Jax, Annabelle and Emmett; his siblings, Aileen Love and Graeme Patterson; and his daughter-in-law Debbie Patterson.
