He is survived by: his spouse Jean Bennett (Patterson); his children, Marie, John (Megan) and Miriam; his grandsons, Brian (Kaya) and Luke; and his siblings, Jack (Joan) and Molly (Ted). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
