He was predeceased by: his niece Chantal; and his sister-in-law Gail. He is survived by: his significant other Gwen Risk; his stepdaughters, Pamela (Riley), Teena (Angelo), Gramps, Zander, Zoey and Zayla; his niece Sydney (James); his brother Gerard (Anja); his nephew Sebastian; his sister-in-law Pauline (Joe); and his nephews, Paul (Anne-Marie) and Jay (Asta).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Prostate Research.
