She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Adrianus Empel and Johanna Van Empel (Van Hasselt); her siblings, Wim (Cis), Mike D, Mariet, Johan D (Gon), Gerard D (Mia), Jo (Gerard), Piet (Mien) and Jos (Trees); her in-laws, Johannes and Gerarda VandenElzen (Huijsmans, family: Harrie D, Adriaan D, Johan, Joke D, Ria, Albert D, Gerrit D); her husband Martien VandenElzen; her grandchildren, Martin, Sarah, Kerry, Billy, Amy, Randy, Chantal, Crystal, Carly, Kaitlin, Mirella, Carter and Lincoln; and her caregivers, Claudette, Shannon and Dustin.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lougheed Funeral Home (252 Regent St, Greater Sudbury, ON P3C4C8). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the St. Alexander's Church.
