He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Smith and Michiko Smith. He is survived by: his significant other Janice Merritt; his children, Greg Merritt (Dawn) and Denise Merritt (Shane Tucker); his sister Cecilie Beeswanger (David); his nieces, Jessica Horvath (Peter) and Vanessa Munda (Gal); his grandchildren, Alexandra, Kristine, Greg, Tyler and Samantha; and his great-niece Eva.
