He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Norma Mouritsen of Chatham and Neil Hetherington; his wife Eileen Birkby of Chatham; his children, Kayla Blackburn and Mackenzie Hetherington; his siblings, Jodie Wolfe (Mark) and Rod Hetherington (Kara Smith); his stepsiblings, Michael Mouritsen (Lucille), Pam Shepley (Rick), Sally Dumouchelle (Norm) and Wendy Corriveau (Gary); his siblings-in-law, David Birkby (Sherry), Susan Cornelius, Allan Birkby (Carolyn) and John Birkby (Jennifer); his stepfather Wes Mouritsen; and his brother-in-law John Cornelius.

All attendees as mandated by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario must wear a mask at all visitations and funerals.
