He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Roelfje; his children, Floris, Shirley Aukema (London), Ralph, Cynthia Aukema (Chatham), Trudy, Peter Schipper (Smithville), Lena Aukema (Michigan), Ed Aukema (late Debbie), Rita and Bob Vriesema (Dresden); and his close friend Lammie Oost.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chatham Christian Schools or Friendship Group Canada.
