He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond DeJong and Shirley DeJong; and his brothers-in-law, Orville Okkema, Peter Plat, Harry Brouwer and Dennis McDonald.

He is survived by: his wife Sherry; and his siblings, Ann Okkema of Guelph, Siska Plat, Helen Brouwer, Margaret Rumble (John), William (Margie) of Woodstock and George (Margaret) of Brockville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
