He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Virgil Merritt and Leticia Merritt; his wife Diane; his children, Evan Merritt Jr. (Paula) and Kelly Merritt (Charlie Winter); his grandchildren, Seth, Emmy, Cade and Lucas; and his sister Beatrice Pugh (Owen). He was also cherished by his extended family, nieces, nephews.
