He was predeceased by: his parents, Hendrika "Rita" McKenzie and Joseph McKenzie; his parents-in-law, Violet and Percy; and his brother-in-law Perry Knee.

He is survived by: his wife Darlene Van Bergen (Knee); his sons, Jeremy and Jeffery Van Bergen (Rebekah); his grandchildren, Zoee and William; and his siblings, Karen Adair, Diane (Garry Wein), Kat Van Bergen, Larry (Sharon Gibson), Nina Knee and Wally Knee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 6th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Crediton Community Centre (38 Victoria Ave E, Crediton, ON N0M1M0).
