He was predeceased by: his wife Georgette Laplante; and his parents, Ernest Laplante and Maria Laplante. He is survived by: his children, Jean Yves Laplante (Diane Bachand) and Michelle Laplante; his grandchildren, Veronique Brisson (Patrick) and Jean Charles Laplante (Joanne); his great grandchildren, Sarah, Rémi and Jacob; and his siblings, Rejean Laplante, Monique Lalonde and André Laplante. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
