He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Evelyn O'Rourke and Frank O'Rourke; his children, Sarah (Myles), Evelyn (Dylan) and Ryan (Tiffany); his grandchildren, Gabriella and Owen; his brothers, Tom (Marliss), Barry (Dianne) and Glenn; his father-in-law Herbert (late Betty); his siblings-in-law, Sharon (Pat), Lila (John), Herbert and Ray; his nieces and nephews, Daniel (Nicole), Cameron, Frank (Melissa), Christopher, Ajay (Zaira), Mickey (Denise), Spencer, Emmett, Shauna Cate (Logan), Sayward (Doug), Angela (Clayton) and Elizabeth (Christopher); his great-nephews, Alex, Liam and James; and his great-niece Darcina. He was also cherished by many cousins, aunts uncles and friends.

As a black belt in Kung Fu and a former assistant coach in boxing at Oxford, until Covid ended access he was known to jump in the ring and spar with up-and-coming kick-boxers well into his mid-sixties.
