He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Margaret Johnston (David), Jane Strong (David) and John Ewart (Patricia Fortier); his grandchildren, David Johnston Jr., Elsa Johnston-Butt (Dylan), Mitchell Strong (Jennifer Strong) and Matthew Strong; his great grandchild Peyton Butt; his sister Doreen Dodds (Bill); his niece Susan Hopper (Terry Hopper); and his brother Ken Ewart (Marge).
Memorial donations may be made in Fred's memory to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (https://thepmcf.ca) who were tireless in helping Fred beat Cancer, or to Grove Park Long Term Care Home in Barrie, who took incredible care of Dad over the past year and a half (http://www.groveparkhome.on.ca).
