He was predeceased by: his wife Rachel "Mabel"; his parents, Janet Lawson and John "Jack" Lawson; and his sisters, Mary Chadwick (late Dick) and Janet "Etta" McHardie (late Ian).

He is survived by: his children, John "Robin" Lawson, Margaret "June" Sadowsky (Alan) and David Lawson (Sarah); his child-in-law Kelly Lawson; his grandchildren, Crystal Brogan (Scott), Stuart Lawson (Stewart), John Lawson (Natosha), Carolyn Sadowsky and Hilary Sadowsky (David Pomeroy); and his great grandchildren, Melanie Brogan, Addison Lawson and Charlie Lawson. He is also survived by many extended family, friends.
