It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Diane Elizabeth (Houghton) Hammer (Burlington, Ontario), born in Kitchener, Ontario, who passed away on February 13, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Diane Elizabeth (Houghton) Hammer to pay them a last tribute.
Passing away peacefully 4 days short of her 75th birthday. Loving wife to Larry (deceased), loving mother of Craig (Cheryl) and Chad (Effie). Beloved sister of Brian, Randy, Terry (Halina) and Roger (Christine), brother and sisters-in-law Bruce (Robin), Roger (Lee), Brenda and Shelly. Diane will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Michelle, Kristy (Josh), Nathan and Sophia. A very special Grandma of one great grandchild Lexi. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Growing up in Bronte, Diane and Larry spent their young adult lives never being able to decide whether to live in Alberta or Ontario. Stopping briefly to raise their family in Burlington, Diane and Larry continued exploring the continent returning to Ontario in 2004. Diane enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was known for helping those who needed it most without question or judgement. This is why she excelled as a private investigator helping those who had no where else to turn. Diane loved playing cards, finding antiques and rescuing animals. Her vibrant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Many thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses and the rest of the community care team at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. The compassion and concern of Mrs. Love and the Capabilities team for looking after Diane and her family with such kindness and care.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in March date TBA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA for Hamilton Burlington in Diane’s memory.
