Alan Walker Fergus Obituary

Burlington: 905-632-3333 Grimsby: 905-945-2755 Stoney Creek: 905-664-4222.

We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Chip at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on the morning of January 1, 2024 in his 80th year. Loving father to Darcey "Doodle" Fergus Romeo, Papa to Lucas and "Reese-a-Roo" Romeo, and his grand-dog Ruby. He was the one-of-a-kind brother to Shawn Freeman Craig (Bob Craig) and Paul (LouLou Benoit), and will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Chip is predeceased by Darcey's mother Sandi, his parents Alan Sr. and Juen Fergus, and his grandparents Dorothy (Gumma) and George (Gump) Cambridge.

Chip lead an active life surrounded by an amazing group of friends dating back to his days at Nelson High School. Up until Chip's last week of life he would meet daily for morning coffee at Coffee Culture, and weekly for Pub Nights with his best buddies. He enjoyed golf, skiing, swimming and cottage country trips with family and friends throughout his adult decades. As a youngster, Chip attended Kilcoo Camp in Minden, Ontario, starting a family tradition for "the Fergus Family Boys" who still enjoy the uplifting summer experience.

Chip was the founder and owner of Mr. Chip's, a successful men's clothing store in Burlington and later as a successful entrepreneur with his own residential painting and decorating business. Chip made sure that people were well dressed, and they had beautiful homes. His customers came back again and again due to his amazing customer service, quality work and attention to detail. Chip was someone that you could trust, and he always did more than was expected.

In keeping with Chip's wishes, cremation has taken place and for all family and friends who wish to raise a glass to toast Chip, a casual gathering is planned on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at Jake's Grill and Oyster Bar, 950 Walker's Line. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army (https://salvationarmy.ca) would be appreciated by the family.
