He was predeceased by: his spouse Tokiko "Toki" Hashimoto; and his siblings, Nayo and George. He is survived by: his children, Bruce Matsubayashi and James Matsubayashi; his siblings, Harold, Midori and Yoshiko; and his brother-in-law John Hashimoto. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
