Velma Wessel Obituary
Velma Jean Wessel (née Tree) went to meet the Good Shepherd early October 4th, 2023, at the age of 93. She is survived by her loving husband Edward Wessel, her children Brian Wessel, Mark Wessel (Dee-Anne), and Marlene Barth (Arthur), her grandchildren Ashlea (Alex), Aaron, Meaghan (Jon) and Kate, her brother Gerald "Jerry" Tree, and many nieces and nephews.
Velma was born in 1930 in Brant County to Reuben and Gertrude Tree where she grew up on their family farm with her younger brother, Jerry.
In 1948, Velma met Eddie at a local dance and, although it was love at first sight, they lost contact until they were set up on a blind date a year later. They refused to let each other get away a second time and they were married in 1950. They moved to Brantford, Ontario to start their family and later settled in Bramalea, Ontario.
Velma was a devoted homemaker and a talented pianist and organist, playing the organ at her local church for many years. She loved dogs, music, painting, knitting, and cooking for her loved ones.
The world will be a little less warm without Velma's kind smile and irresistible laughter, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Velma's life will be held Tuesday October 10th, 2023 at Cameron Funeral Home, 1106 Yonge Street South, Walkerton, Ontario. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by Service and a Reception at Knights of Columbus Hall, 1658 Highway 9, Mildmay, Ontario.
The interment Ceremony will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., Burford Pioneer Cemetery, 14 Potter Drive, Burford, Ontario.
