She is survived by: her spouse Mel Hunt; her daughters, Christine Birtch (Michael) and Sheryl VanSpriel (Jason); her grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew), Olivia and Ryker; her great grandchildren, Mallory, Mika and Kael; her stepdaughter Sherry Benoit John (Richard); her stepgrandchildren, Tristan, John Matthew, Destiny, Taylor and Nick; and her siblings, Margaret Meikle and John Grice (Dean).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by her family.
