He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Burns and Eva Burns. He is survived by: his wife Joan Burns; his children, Roberta (Al Peters) and Kim (Keith McCrae); and his grandchildren, Emily (Seth Eden), Robert Alec Peters and Tyler Robert Douglas McCrae.
