He was predeceased by: his siblings, Edward, Lorne and Mary Squires. He is survived by: his wife Doris Thompson; his son James (Linda Smith) of Brinston; and his grandchildren, James Dean, Taylor and Jay-Lynne. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
