He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas McDonald and Muriel McDonald; and his siblings, Diane, Robert and Bryant.

He is survived by: his partner Roman Kiprenko; his children, Stacy (Marvin), Kent (Jen) and Stephanie (Jim); his grandchildren, Easton, Reese, Arden, Bennett, Cooper, Cohen and Mason; his sister Gail; and his pet Lucy.
