He was predeceased by: his wife Josephine; his parents, Gordon Mitchell and Margaret Mitchell; his sister-in-law Jean Mitchell; and his siblings, Gordon Mitchell (Alice), Allan Mitchell (Dolores), Dorothy Quinlan (Jim) and Norine Ecker.

He is survived by: his children, Marilyn McDonald (Greg), Dean Guindon (Ron), Gerald Mitchell (Nancy), Carol Mitchell-Adlam (Mark Adlam), Andrea Judd (David), Julie Guindon, Ronnie Guindon (Ashley), Matthew Mitchell (Shasta Smith) and Jeffrey Mitchell (Carling); his great grandchildren, Hayden Mitchell, Mitchell Judd and Vivian Mitchell; his brother Paul Mitchell (Cathy); and his siblings-in-law, Edward Ecker, Albinus Huber (Pat), Melvin Huber, Magdalene Steffler, Anna Strauss and Geraldine Weiss. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
