With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Helen Tejverti Ishmael (Brantford, Ontario), born in Georgetown, Ontario, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 10, 2024 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry A. Chand and Stella O. Balgobin; her son Altaf; and her son-in-law Denis Charron. She is survived by: her husband John "Ish" Ishmael; her daughters, Shalesa Charron, Azaleta Ishmael-Newry (Ian Marcus Bethel), Scheherazade Johnson (Norman) and Alizan Dudenas (Chris); her siblings, Marlene O'Brien (Basil) and Raymond Chand (Jane); her cousin Stephen P. B. Singh (Sadie); her family, Leiana Charron (Mike Munro), Kira Charron (Gabriel Reis), Devita Charron, Ameera, Anjali Ishmael-Newry, Ryan Johnson (Amie Dove), Owen Johnson, Alexander and Nic Dudenas; her great grandchild André Reis; her sons-in-law, Norm, Chris and Alain Torchon-Newry (Denis Charron); her children, David Chand, Laura Chand (Danny) and Kevin Chand (Lindsey); her granddaughter Kira; and also, Fazia, Lachmansinghs, Insanallys and Shakoors.
In honour of Helen T. Ishmael, donations can be made to the William Osler Hospital in Brampton or the Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, which took such good care of her.
