Joseph D. Browne Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Joseph Delano Browne announce his passing, following a brief illness.
Joe has returned to his maker, our God and creator on Friday December 1st, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother Augustina, father Mortley, and brother David.
He is survived by his wife Cardelia, children Cindy, Tanya, and Joseph (Joey), sister Karan, brother Kensley (Ken), cousin Benjamin (Verrol), niece Gail, nephews Randy and Kensley, extended family, and many close friends to cherish his memory.
Joe was born on August 10, 1950, on the island of Carriacou, Grenada and grew up in Six Roads. During his youth, he enjoyed playing football (soccer) and he was musically talented, playing the steel pan, guitar, organ, harmonica, and composing various songs. Joe attended Bishop College in Carriacou and later attended DeWitt Clinton High School when his family immigrated to Bronx, New York in 1968. He later went on to attend Baruch College, New York, New York.
Joe eventually met and married Cardelia in August 1974, while in Toronto, Ontario. Through their union, they were blessed with three children, and they decided to raise their family in Brampton, Ontario. Joe worked for the railway starting with CN and moved on to have a long career with VIA Rail Cananda. He set his sight on his retirement years ahead and decided to retire from the railway in December 2008.
Following retirement, Joe immersed himself in ministerial work. He became a minister in the spiritual Baptist church and was later elevated to bishop. He was an eloquent speaker and utilized his gift of articulation to preach in Toronto, New York City, and in parts of the Caribbean. Joe eventually decided to continue his retirement in Chateaubelair, St. Vincent, West Indies. While there he continued his ministerial work in various forms, helping many who sought spiritual guidance and awareness throughout the Caribbean.
Joe was a man who loved music and shared his love of all genres of music with his children which is a legacy that will forever be cherished. He was an extraordinary cook and baker and had numerous other talents. He was a self-taught electrician, plumber, renovator, tailor, and designer of clothing. Joe had a smile that lite up the place when he was in good spirits, and he had an amazing sense of humour, giving his family endless memories of jokes and laughter.
Joe, your life was a blessing, and you were loved more than words can express. Your individuality and fun-loving personality will be deeply missed. Rest in the arms of our Lord, until we meet again.
