He was predeceased by: his parents, Dirk and Jansje van Vliet. He is survived by: his significant other Nel Mooy; his children, Rob (Fran), Diane (Bas), Sheila (Harvey) and Freda (Paul); his grandchildren, Sara, Derek, Melissa, Chris, Leah, Calvin, Bradley, Todd, Adrian, Aiden and Avalyn; his great grandchildren, Brianna, Chloe, Makayla, Ella, Addison, Owen, William, Curtis, Thomas, Danica, Lennon, Juniper and Kennedy; his family, Joop, Tini, Dick, Corrie, Jans, Cor, Hans, Nel and Jan; and also Holland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Society.
