He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Teresa; his children, Shaun and Michelle (Shani); his parents, Joan Doucett and Ed Doucett; his siblings, Darrel (Sheila) and Arlene (Jack); his parents-in-law, Gwen and Ron Pottage; and his siblings-in-law, Gerry (Monica) and Terry (Janet). He was also cherished by his nieces and nephews.

In John's memory, donations may be made to the Stronach Cancer Centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society.
