He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dale McDermott and Dorothea McDermott (Keall); his siblings, Deborah Davey (Joe) and Donald McDermott of Bracebridge; his niece Allison Davey (Sean Rogers); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Sally Rogers, Alexandra Davey and Matt Williams; and his aunts, Grace Thompson and Cynthia French.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Knox Presbyterian Church of the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation in Bracebridge.
