She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Stanley and Dorothy Stanley (Dookie); her son Michael Alan Thorne; and her siblings, Edwin (Rita), Andrew (Nathalie), Jacqueline (Stuart) and Arthur.
She is survived by: her children, Michele Ann Thorne and Mari Angelique Mohammed (Ricardo); her grandchildren, Alisha Chung (Jason), Michael Allan and Mikaela; her great grandchildren, Khai, Jaylan and Lyric; and her siblings, Sydney (Lynette), Leslie, Victor (Margaret), Jean and Joan (Jocelyn). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Gemma's memory are encouraged to make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
