She was predeceased by: her husband Jozef Smit; her parents, John Klein and Katherina Klein (Emrich); and her siblings, John, George, Martin Klein, Mary Pawlak and Katherine Emrich.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sue McClatchey and Maryann Edgar (Paul); and her grandchildren, Susan, Glen Caetano, Joey, Amanda McClatchey, Sammy, Katie and Ally Edgar.
