He was predeceased by: his spouse Terezija; and his parents, Mathias Schmidt and Rosina Schmidt. He is survived by: his daughters, Rosemarie and Kristina (Brian Krol); his grandchildren, Amy, Natalie, Olivia, Owen, Maxine, Andrew and Kevin; his great grandchildren, Isla and MacArthur; and his brothers, Heinrich (Gitta), Stefan (late Leni) and Josef (Irmi).
