He was predeceased by: his parent Roy Johnston; his wife Carol Ann Johnston; and his brothers, Gordon Johnston, Malcolm Johnston (Mary) and Kenneth Johnston.

He is survived by: his parent Annie Johnston; his children, Kevin Johnston (Valerie), Heather Johnston (Dawn) and Valerie Alagna (Bruno); his brother Bill Johnston (Jean); and his grandchildren, Lonnie, Cassandra, Kyle, Joseph, Noah and Christiano. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
