He was predeceased by: his parents, William Benson and Ruth Benson (Smith); and his sister Diana Merchant (Leonard). He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Anne Benson (Harwood); his son Philip Andrew Benson of Belleville; his grandchildren, Graeme (Chase) and Andrew Benson; his nieces, Patti Frederick, Heather (Frank) and Eleanor Kennedy; his nephew James Baitley (Terri Lynn); and his daughter-in-law Glenda Benson.
