He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Winterburn and Norma Cameron; his wife Mona Steele; his children, Lance and Dr Dana Winterburn; and his great grandchild Briar Rose.

He is survived by: his son Shane (Maryjane); his grandchildren, Jenni Bridger (Justin), Alexandria Winterburn, Jarad Winterburn (Leslie MacDonald), Tamara Searles (Ian Anderson) and Claren Simpson (Jeff); and his great grandchildren, Kolton, Peyton, Lennox, Cooper, Arly, Quincy, Sully and Reid. He is also survived by his ten siblings.

Donations to the Dr. Dana Winterburn memorial reward-Schulich school of medicine.
