He was predeceased by: his wife Muriel (Lutes); his parents, Louis Richards and Myrtle Richards (Crandall); and his sisters, Betty and Johanna.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Paul (late Mel) and Michael Richards; his grandchildren, Craig Paul (Patricia), Mike Paul (Lee-Anne) and Sherri Pynenburg (Jason); and his great grandchildren, Jack, Morgan, Henry Paul, Rylie, Madelyn Paul and Sofie Pynenburg.
