He was predeceased by: his parent Samuel Oakes; his wife Dorothy Oakes; his son Frank McDougall; and his siblings, Jardine Oakes, Samuel Oakes Jr., Maxine Broad (Lucuis), Mary Crain (Duncan) and Dean McDougall.
He is survived by: his parent Bessie Oakes; his children, Marion McDougall of Peterborough, ON, Dale "Hud" Oakes of Bath, NB, Cynthia McGuigan (Earl) of Upper Kent, NB and Beverly Billings (Ross) of Centreville, NB; and his siblings, Graydon Oakes (Rose), Linda McDougall and Marie Emphy. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
