He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy S. Burmister and Louise Burmister (Draper); and his son-in-law Ian Downey. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Burmister (Butters); his children, Wendy Burmister Downey (Warren Cavanagh) and Roy Alan Burmister; his granddaughter Beatrix Downey; his niece Kristi Thompson; and his nephew Peter Thompson.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
