He was predeceased by: his parents, George Armstrong and Grace Armstrong. He is survived by: his wife Tina (Abels); his son Michael (Courtney); his grandsons, Deacon and Perry; his siblings, Wilf (Bonnie), Christine Hansen (Paul), Timothy (Nancy), Susan Hammer (Tom) and Sandra Crick; and his siblings-in-law, Hendrik Abels (Bonnie) and Ed Abels (Judy). He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Make a Wish Foundation of Canada in lieu of flowers would be much appreciated.
