He was predeceased by: his siblings, Armin (late Pat), Paul (Mary) and Helga; and his siblings-in-law, Jackie Mussell (Vivian), Herb Mussell and Craig Mussell (late Faye).

He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his sons, Jeff and Michael (Deborah); his grandchildren, Braydon, Cameron, Theodore and Benjamin; and his siblings-in-law, Brian Mussell (Anne) and Kathy Mussell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In Martin's memory, donations may be made to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
