He is survived by: his wife Ruth Read; his children, Julie Henry and Jason Read; his children-in-law, Dave Henry and Connie Read; his grandchildren, Samantha, Rachel, Jacob and Taylor; and his brothers, Bruce (Betty), Jim (Pat) and Ken (Janet).

“To Ruth, Bruce and family, I'm sorry for your loss. I met John when he lived across from Brico Transportation in Innisfil years ago. Low and behold John and Ruth ended up renting the upstairs of a house where my step daughter and her children lived downstairs on Cundles Rd. I always chatted with John in the driveway while he was having a cigarette when I dropped the children off. He had a few interesting stories. Sincere condolences Sandra Knisley”
