He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary McConnell; his wife Ethel; and his siblings, Henry, Robert and Aino.

He is survived by: his children, Aino-May Binnendyk (Jerry), Tom (Susan), David (Susan) and Bruce (Sonia). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
