It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harald Julius Paul Meesen (Barrie, Ontario), who passed away on September 8, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Meesen; and his brother Joachim. He is survived by: his children, Monika Meesen of Holland Landing, Heinrich Meesen (Francine) of Quebec City and Sonja Brown (Chris) of Aurora; and his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Nicole, Charles (Laurie), Alexandre (Isabelle), Barbara (Paul), Burton, Charlie, Lexi, Henri James, Eve and Harley.

“So sad to hear about Harald passing away. I recall visiting him in April prior to us moving to Kelowna and he was happy and healthy. He was extremely helpful in teaching me how to make maple syrup and also helped for many years to condense the sap. His signature (along with my fathers) is written on the sugar shack wall under "hall of fame". I actually called that spot "his office". I will always remember him sitting there, sometimes with a friends dog, and tending the fire.”
