She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Sparling (Harry) and Margaret Sparling (Jennie) of Temiscaming, Quebec.; her siblings, Lila Harrison (George) of Edmonton, Margaret Wilkin (Paul) of North Bay and Ross Sparling (Laurette) of Temiscaming; and her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Newman (John) and Sylvia Geiger (Jim).

She is survived by: her daughter Kim Merchant; her husband Cyril Newman; her son Kevin Newman; her granddaughter Julia Merchant; her great grandchild Josiah Merchant; her siblings, Chad Newman (Edmonton) and Jessica Falcioni (Newmarket); her nephews, Glen Harrison and Dean Sparling (Rhondi); and her sisters-in-law, Gwen Whillans (Alan) and Dorothy Chellew (Wayne).
