“Blanche Lalonde is how I knew her. In 1957 she opened her arms in friendship as I arrived, a new immigrant from the UK. She dragged me off to meet her huge (14) French-Canadian family in Penetanguishene, Ontario. In those early years, we had holidays together, and although over the years not close, I followed her up-and-down life until she settled to become Mrs. Bianca Smiley. She was private, elegant, had a dry wit and a heart of gold. RIP my friend. Shosh”
