He was predeceased by: his wife Clarice Smith (Sniderman); his parents, Harold Smith (Reg) and Jane Smith (Jean); his brother Paul; and his granddaughter Michelle.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Smith (Jennifer), Christine Smith, Lisa Stewart (Marc) and Sadie Smith (Aaron Westerink); his grandchildren, Robert, Jessica, Kodi, Brad, Catherine, James, Mary, Brianna of Madison, A. J., Jacob, Brian, Amy and Opal; his siblings, David Smith (Sue) and Donna Toy (Ken); his mother-in-law Joan O'Reilly (Tom); and his siblings-in-law, Joanne (Kenneth) and Ronnie (Anna). He is also survived by his cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
