He was predeceased by: his brothers, George and Mike; and his parents, Nicholas Sym and Joanne Sym (Huisman). He is survived by: his wife Janet Sym (Huller); his children, Julie Sym-Wilson of Aurora and Jeff Sym (Stephanie) of Simcoe; his grandchildren, Justin, Ella and Sophie; his siblings, Nick (Janice) and Theresa; and his sister-in-law Nancy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
