He was predeceased by: his wives, Helen Hawley (Jenken) and Marie Hawley (Gartly); his parents, Bruce Hawley and Hazel Hawley (Marr); his siblings, Blanche Shackleton (Verne) and Bill Hawley (Marilyn); and his stepson Larry Gartly.

He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Patricia "Pat" Cauley (Joseph), Marie LeClaire (Bernard), Lynda Hawley, Judy Brown, Janet Rigsby (Jim), Norm Shackleton (Ethel), Brenda Dale (late Dave), Bruce Shackleton (Sharon) and Paul Shackleton; and his stepchildren, Dale and Scott.
